The Dubai Mall in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is one of the world’s largest and most luxurious mall. Opened in 2008 at a cost of $20 billion, this mega-mall is home to more than 1,200 retail stores, 200 restaurants, and 8 attractions including an indoor aquarium. While we cannot possibly cover every square inch of this mall in this post, we will take you on a virtual tour to some of the Dubai Mall’s most interesting sights and features.
Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo
First, let’s cover what is perhaps the mall’s most famous attraction, the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo. Showcasing hundreds of unique aquatic animals and marine life, the aquarium features a a 270-degree 48-meters long tunnel that you can walk through. Watch as tiger sharks and stingrays swim right above your head! You have to be here to truly witness this incredible experience!
Human Waterfalls
Another interesting attraction of Dubai Mall is a 24-meters high art display known as the Human Waterfalls. This visually striking exhibit was designed in 2009 by architectural firm DP Architects, who are also the designers of the mall itself. Since it’s located in the center of the mall, many people gather around and watch sculptures of human figures who appear to be soaring down from a waterfall.
Dubai Ice Rink
Have you ever wanted to ice skate inside of a shopping mall? Well, now you can with Dubai Mall’s Olympic-sized ice rink! This is a very fun and popular attraction that appeals to people of all ages. Opened all year round, it’s great for taking a break from shopping or escaping the outside heat.
Of course, this is only the tip of the iceberg of what you can see at the Dubai Mall. With thousands of stores and various attractions, there’s always something to do at the world’s most luxurious shopping mall.
